We’re lucky to enjoy a wide variety of different work in practical tree surgery. One of the things customers often want to know is whether their trees are healthy.
This is especially important where the trees are important features in the landscape, where they are very old and/or have become very large. And when they sit alongside a well-used driveway, overhanging car parking spaces in the garden of a property housing older residents, like the majestic old Horse Chestut and Copper Beech trees we were looking at below, it’s vital that they’re checked on a regular basis.
We used an Easy Lift mobile platform to complete this diagnostic job. Small, flexible and straightforward to use, it enabled Andrew to get right into the crowns quickly and safely, so he could see, measure and photograph the features he found there, including a lot of quite extensive decay at the sites of decades-old old pruning wounds. At the same time, our chartered arborist colleague was measuring invisible decay in the base of the trunks.
Put together, the two assessment gave Andrew a picture of the health of the tree and enabled him to recommend just enough pruning to maintain the trees for the long term, and minimise the known risks for the safety of everyone on site.
