While some people think that the really glamourous bit of tree surgery is done by the tree surgeons when they’re working at height, the bit that customers see first and often value most is the way that the job is cleared up afterwards. It’s what we receive most feedback about from our satisfied customers.
Groundsmen have a skilled role besides the processing and clearing up.
Being a competent groundsman also means learning how to handle and manage roped pieces of wood safely down using directional roping techniques and use weight management and movement tools such as winches safely and effectively. Groundsmen are often the drivers and towers; the guys who know how to maintain all the powered tools safely, and the ones who ensure that the climber has everything (s)he needs while (s)he’s in the tree. On top of all that, many groundsmen are also trained and competent to perform an aerial rescue. So big up the groundsmen! They’re vital members of the team.
