It’s increasingly the case these days that we are occupied with storm related tree works in the first quarter of the year; this also appears to be a result of climate change, and seems to be a predictable weather pattern that we now, to some extent, plan for as a matter of course alongside our planned and scheduled works.
This Cupressus lost a large bough, and as the tree overhangs a public pathway, it needed to be made safe as a matter of priority. It’s not the prettiest tree! It is almost compeltely one-sided because of the close proximity of the trees behind it starving it of light as it developed. Nonetheless, notions of beauty aside, Joe did a good, clean job of removing the top section below the point of the storm damaged tear in the stem. This was the weak point at which the tree would likely have failed, sending the top part of the crown to the floor and potentially hurting someone or something.
