What an interesting month it was in September…
We’ve been 30 years in the job and can only remember one animal rescue in all that time but in the space of a week we’ve done the right thing by two very different furry and feathered friends.
This beautiful Harris Hawk, called Tweedy, had been out on a regular flying mission with his handler, and managed to tangle up his leather leg strap in the branch of a dying Willow tree hanging over water and on the edge of a rural field.
As you can see by the light, there was no time to lose getting to Tweedy. In the dusk, it was a bit tricky to know how he might behave in the presence of an unknown tree surgeon, and having been trapped in the tree for 36 hours.
We managed to get out to him from the remaining healthy live wood and though the final rescue wasn’t what you’d call elegant, Tweedy was very civilized about it and his handler reports that he suffered no ill effects from his adventure!
This 15-week old kitten (promise you, she’s in there but was too shy to have her photo taken) went on an early climbing mission and got into a bit of a panic at the top of the tree. She came down inside Andrew’s shirt!
